![]() ![]() The three fated strangers soon realize they are in this together, and a friendship begins to blossom. The movie takes you on a side-splitting journey as the trio encounters all sorts of situations from delivering a baby, to finding love, and ultimately being mistaken for dead after a car explosion. It is here where the adventure of a lifetime begins, as the three embark on a remarkably eventful road trip. Giovanni invites himself into the police car, and in a quick turn of events, both the police officer and civilian find themselves kidnapped and taken hostage by Aldo. Their encounter happens by chance one morning: while Giacomo is escorting Aldo to hearing, they get stopped by Giovanni, who wants to report a theft. The story follows the lives of Aldo ( Aldo Baglio), a thief currently in jail for credit card fraud, Giovanni ( Giovanni Storti) a married children’s toys inventor, and Giacomo ( Giacomo Poreti), a wanna-be novelist and a police officer. If you don’t mind international cinema and a few subtitles, this Italian Cult movie makes for an excellent choice, a brilliant story full of humour, heart, adventure and hope, that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. The series „È Così la Vita“, which translates into „That‘s what life is like“, illustrates my perspective of an existence close to nature and the mysticism surrounding the long lives of these islanders. People are agile and busy (with their gardens, their vineyards and the preparation of homemade food), but stress and pressure are unknowns. Not more than a few hours away from the vibrating capital of Cagliari and some world famous beach holiday spots, everything almost solely revolves around family and the passion for self-sufficiency. I visited these pristine parts and photographed the village elders, wanting to experience their simple life and with a desire to document their stories. Their way of life is largely unchanged for generations, and in some way these island people are unaffected by the outside world. In remote villages in the heartland of Sardinia live the oldest people in Europe. The island Sardinia is one of five Blue Zones, the regions of the world where people live much longer than average. While new approaches to well-balanced lifestyles are constantly being researched and promoted, some communities have never abandoned their natural equilibrium. È Così la Vita - An Ode to Standstill Nowadays many people long for simplicity, for a place safe from the soaring flow of information, in sync with nature. ![]()
